  • Description:

    This week-long intensive is for early career, tenure-track faculty and advanced graduate students seeking faculty or staff positions in higher education. The Summer Intensive includes interactive workshops, lunches in disciplinary clusters and senior community-engaged scholars, site visits to community partners and dedicated time to develop your own community engagement materials (i.e., research proposals, service-learning syllabi, promotion and tenure documents). 

    At the end of four and a half days, participants will come away with: 

    1. Conceptual frameworks and scholarly resources
    2. Practical partnership, collaboration and evaluation tools
    3. Perspectives from community partners on respectful, effective community engagement 
    4. Career advice from senior community-engaged scholars about promotion and tenure
    5. Plans for publishing community-engaged scholarship
    6. Strategies for translating university knowledge for public audiences
    7. Support from a network of interdisciplinary colleagues
