MSU College of Music announces eighth annual Cello Plus series

Tuesday, March 4, 2008

The College of Music at Michigan State University will present its eighth annual Cello Plus chamber music series on March 10, 12, 14, and 16, with four concerts featuring international guest artists, College of Music artist faculty, and music students. Performances, which will include popular works by Mozart, Schumann, Brahms, and Messiaen, as well as world premiere pieces by Dohi Moon and Eric Knechtges, will take place at the MSU Music Building Auditorium on West Circle Dr.

Cello Plus, which premiered at MSU in 2000, is coordinated and managed by Suren Bagratuni, College of Music professor of cello. “The series provides a great opportunity to introduce our university, community, faculty, and students to outstanding musicians from around the world,” Bagratuni said. “It’s amazing to see these musicians come together from across the globe sharing their diverse backgrounds and varying ideologies.”

“It’s an inspiration to many of our students to meet these musicians, hear them rehearse, and be able to attend a weeklong series of some of the best chamber music performances available in the United States,” said James Forger, dean of the MSU College of Music.
